Professional organizations

Many of the professional organizations listed below post job listings related to their area of interest and may also give you a forum for circulating your resume. For example, the Dallas/Fort Worth Unix Users group encourages recruiters and companies who are hiring to announce openings at their meetings, and they have a members-only jobs mailing list that gets a trickle of help wanted postings.
Pink Slip Parties
Occasionally there are events in the area that are held specifically to help people find a job. The Layoff Lounge is one organization that sponsors events like this (there may be an admission charge). Watch the calendars in the publications listed above for similar events. GeekMeet also promotes networking events, some of which are geared for job hunters, and they also have an online job openings list.
